CPC’s history begins with its founding in 1986 by an industry pioneer to serve as a registered investment advisor and manage Constitution Private Capital Strategies, L.P. private equity fund of funds; we operated as a sister affiliate to the oldest U.S. fund of funds registered investment advisor.

Milestones in the history of Constitution Private Capital Company and its subsidiaries:

1986

Founded by an industry pioneer as an RIA to manage Constitution Private Capital Strategies, L.P. our flagship strategy for principal private equity fund investing.

1987

Launched Liberty Middle Market Strategy along with our first institutional co-mingled fund of funds and separate account to principally invest alongside The Constitution Private Capital Strategies.

1988

Launched Providence Venture Strategy for investments in private venture funds.

1990

Launched the second institutional co-mingled fund of funds to principally invest alongside Constitution Private Capital Strategies.

1996

Launched Absolute Realization Strategy for final realization of cash from private equity fund LP interests, distributed securities from private equity funds and co-investments. Established a subsidiary third party fund advisory business, Crossroads Investment Advisers, L.P., which collectively operated with our investment advisory operations under an expanded brand as “The Crossroads Group.”

1997

Introduced the industry’s first investor-driven asset allocation private equity fund of funds.

1998

Launched an affiliate, Capital Analytics, L.P. to offer alternate asset third party administration, which was subsequently sold in 2003 and is now owned by Mitsubishi Bank.

1999

Launched a co-mingled fund of funds to invest in the largest secondary trade of private equity funds completed to that date. Launched the firm’s second investor-driven asset allocation private equity fund of funds.

2003

Sold the Crossroads brand trademark and Crossroads Investment Advisers, L.P., our subsidiary third party fund SEC registered investment advisor which had grown to one of the largest in the U.S., to Lehman Brothers.

2004

Launched division for seeding of new alternative asset permanent vehicles.

2009

Focused on core principal fund investing and our Absolute Realization Strategy and sold our remaining liquidating managed accounts to Lehman Crossroads (subsidiary of Lehman Brothers) then at $9 billion AUM.
